REBELLION!

Below is a poem that I wrote. I was inspired by the Chrysler commercial that features their new car,  I forget what it is, but that isn't the point. The car, according o the commercial is 'imported from Detroit' meaning that car is at least assembled in America.

That's a first. At school during Chapel we've been focusing on Rebelling against low standards of society. I'm rebellion against America's dependency on foreign countries to make everything that we need. A good place to start is cars. Plus I really want that car, it looks awesome! :)

Look at it this way. I wanted to do something about our predicament, I'm limited, but what I can do is share my opinion and hopefully win people to my cause.

Read on, and feel free to copy and repost this, just be sure to get my signature on the bottom!

Humble Beginnings.
By: Sarah Cruthirds 5/30/11
Grey on black on brown. Piled high into the sky.
Light.
The sky grey, traced with tendrils of blue, hinting at a better tomorrow.
Music. Dull and metallic, sharp, but energizing.
People all around, their brows set, hands at the ready.
Working quick and fast. The snow falling, piling up on their shoulder like weights.
Determination the American dream. Black paved ways, the veins of our city.
Humble Beginnings.
‘True,’ says the wind. True. And so it began.
A Humble Beginning.
That turned into a foundation, which in turn was built upon.
And now it stands. Strong and mighty. It’s all grown up
Sharp edges, crisp lines, and the red and velvet of old. They make a fashion.
Like no other. Paired they are great, but not, they are none.
Running. Coursing through the veins. Sleek and grey. Shiny, a hint of old luxury.
Humble Beginnings.
A rumbling. Something starting, growing faster, and then coming to a head.
 Rebellion. A good one.
Spreading and spreading. Over taking the walls, the corners, the sky even.
Freedom within the reach of the people.
The flag flies proud and long. The wind whipping it back and forth.
It’s an omen of the times to come.
We are dependent on no one. We eat by the fruits of our labor and ours alone.
Humble Beginnings.
Detroit. A Rebellion, this is my city.

TNT, Flower Heads, Explosive Pom-poms, and Paul Mitchell for Dogs!

I love this little guy! He looks really angry at whoever is taking the picture, but I LOVE him. All I can say is I don't want to be around him when he's in a bad mood. TNT comes is small packages, this little guy looks about ready to bust! :)

Wish I could wear a flower on my head and look cute... I'm not sure if this is a Hamster or what, but he looks really small. Maybe it's a mouse or cute rat? Whatever, he's still ridiculously adorable.

Ok, he is sooooo gonna eat someones face off. Look at his tiny little paws! They're so small and adorable. I wish I had a dog like this. My dogs are stinky and fat and don't look cute when they're evil. This little guy looks like an explosive pom-pom! Watch out Pom-poms of doom! :)

I so wish I had hair like that! Wonder what shampoo his owner uses on him? Probably a salon brand or something. 'Paul Mitchell for Dogs'!

Memorial Day

What do you do on Memorial day? Roast brisket and watch old war movies? Invite over your family and friends? Or head out to the beach for a day of fun in the sun?

All of this is great, in fact I've done all of these on past Memorial Days. But what is Memorial day? Just a holiday, Nope. It's a day for celebrating the men and women, both dead and alive, who fought for our country. They gave up freedoms and sometimes their lives so we could live freely and without fear.

I have a few relatives and friends that were in the military and helped fight wars. All of my grandfathers, and great grandfathers, plus my cousin Cody,  and my dad's cousin Jeff served sometime in one of America's wars.

The old war movies are great. I especially love anything to do with WWII and the war in the pacific with the Japanese. My favorite wartime movie is Patton. George S. Patton, was America's best and most controversial General that served in WWII. He fought Hitler's Afrika Corps in Africa and then won Italy alongside British General Montgomery to end Mussolini's rule.

He believed that America was the BEST country, and that we should always be ready to fight, because fighting is how we gained our independence, it's in our blood. General Patton was a remarkable man despite believing that he had been reincarnated from history's best warriors. Many called him a romantic warrior, a sixteenth century man trapped in the 20th century. I agree. He wanted to attack Sicily, like the Athenians had done centuries before. The general was turned down, but he still made many contributions to the allied war effort.

I think General Patton was prophetic. The man predicted our future conflict with Russia, after the Yalta meeting, where the Soviet's "special interests" in Europe were recognized. Patton believed that we would soon be fighting a war with the Russians, and said we should make the first move, while we were prepared and well armed after WWII.

America didn't actually fight Russia, but the Cold war and the space race added tension, that if not defused could have started WWIII!

I love the movie, and all the actors.

This is why America is great, because of the people who died protecting our citizens. They deserve our utmost respect.

Happy Memorial day everyone!

I LOVE Numbers! :)

I received this interesting piece of information a few weeks ago from my mother. She got from my Pawpaw, who is an engineer. It's kind of cool how all of this matches up, but the money part is crud. Still, I thought is was amazing how this kind of stuff happens...

Money bags

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to
your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese
Feng Shui. The one who does not forward.....will be without money.

Kinda interesting - read on!!!

This year we're going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
the age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of
the Money!!!

The proverb goes that if you send this to eight good friends money will
appear in next four days as it is explained in Chinese FENGSHUI.

Its a mystery, but its worth a try. good luck. "I GET BY GIVING"

Would you like to order a Purple Parrot from North Korea?

For five weekends, I battled with bad weather to pass my RCBS class (Red Cross Basic Sailing) so I could proudly call myself a Mariner. I'm a Girl Scout, as many of you know, and Mariners is part of the GS program. We sail Boats of all sizes including, sunfish, sloops, and Big Boats.

The last weekend, I managed to pass and became a Mariner. Whoohoo! And get this, the next weekend was the last Mariner weekend of the Spring 2011 sailing season, so I went and had a blast.

What's up with the Purple Parrots? You say.

Well, we stayed up late one night, and decided to prank call people. At first we were asking them if they wanted to donate to the Rooster Conservation Foundation, but we decided we needed something that was funnier.

So we agreed to sell Purple Parrots from North Korea. The stupid thing is, The U.S. has a trade band on North Korea and I don't think Solid purple parrots exist. Details...

We actually had two people say they wanted some, but since we didn't actually have any, we had to turn them down.

The interesting things we do at sailing camp... we also play Ninja, really intense games of ninja, like where you gets bruises and sore muscles from over doing your ninja moves...

We also play twister, which I'm not going to tell you about.

Prayer requests...

Darby posted today:

Please pray for my cousin, Mariah. I found out yesterday that she was in a car wreck while driving at night with two friends in the car. I don't know the extent of the friends' injuries, but I know that Mariah had to have a few stitches above one of her eyes and her back hurts.

I have no idea how or even when the accident happened or how bad it was.

Please pray for a quick recovery for all three of them. I would really appriciate that.

Also Pray for my cousin, Cody, who is enlisted in the Army, and stationed in Afghanistan. I don't know when he comes home next, because he came home for two weeks in March, but pray he comes home safely.

If you have any prayer requests, post them as a comment, the more prayers, the better... :D

TARGET PRACTICE!

This is a seriously funny story, about bird poop, target practice, opera, and my best friend. So about nine years ago, we went to the beach with her, my brother and mother, and this other girl from our street who didn't have anything else better to do.

We arrived at the beach and wen straight into the water. All day we flounced around in the sea water splashing each other and building monster sand castles. the day was full of fun, and that was just the morning.

My mom called us in for a lunch of sandwiches and fresh fruit which we enjoyed. Then she made us wait for thirty minutes to let our food settle and our new application of sunscreen to dry. In this time my best friend, who has asked not to be named, took it upon herself to tell us she wanted to be an opera singer.

Now, this was news to me and I nearly fell out of my chair laughing at this, but what was to come next made me laugh even harder. She asked us if we wanted a personal concert, so we told her yes and could barely contain our giggles. So she started off.

We were laughing the entire time, but she proceeded onward with great gusto. Apparently one of the seagulls didn't like her singing as much as we did, so he or she decided to do something about it.

TARGET PRACTICE!

When she was almost done this bird came and pooped on her, and she didn't even notice! haha! So the other girl told her "hey that bird just pooped on her arm"

And my BBF said "No way"

They proceeded to argue about it, until the other girl grabbed my BBF's arm and showed her, and we all cracked up laughing!!!!!!! :D

We still joke about it today.

Another funny thing about this friend of mine is that the same year we invited her to the rodeo. Before departing for a day full of festivities, we stopped at IHOP for breakfast. My friend afterwards asked my dad, whose name is not Pete "Mr. Pete, Mr. Pete, when can we go back to eyeball?"

This is my best friend in a nutshell. I LOVE her!

Willy Wonka

So Today, I went to my friend Jessica's play! She played Mrs. Tevee (Mike's mom) in CYT's (Christian Youth Theater  performance of Willy Wonka! She did a fantastic job, and even got to do the intro before the play started.

I took my sister to see it as well, and she was dancing to the songs! Ha! She does that with everything, but hey as long as she's a good dancer and singer I don't care.

Another boy from our school was in the play as well. He played a squirrel, and a newspaper boy, and he sure did look cute. Especially in his squirrel costume, which he got to dance to a remake of "Girls, girls, girls" in. Instead it was "Squirrels, squirrels, squirrels!" Haha, my brother had a field day with that one.

Pray for my friend Becca, because she was sick today, and has been for the past week. We just got out for summer, and she's sick! Hope you get to feeling better Becca! :D

That's just about all I have to say, other than GO MAVERICKS.

Go Mavericks!

WARNING: This is the only time in history I will go for a Dallas sports team!

The Dallas Mavericks had made the NBA finals! I'am hoping that Tyson Chandler and Dirk Novinsik (* did not spell that right...) will get to face Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosch in the NBA final! :) I'm giddy with happiness, because finally the Laker (Fakers) didn't make it to the Finals! Hahaha.

Although, Phil Jackson, who I commonly called Phil Mickelson, the coach of the Fakers, was fired and immediately replaced with coach Brown from Cleveland. Bye bye Phil Jackson.

My opinion is that Phil Jackson didn't do anything wrong; however I don't like him as a coach. It was Kobe Bryant being a show off that got the Fakers out of the finals! He's such a ball hog and not a very good team player. Cohesiveness and trust are a MUST when playing basketball, above all else. You have to trust your team mates to get the job done, in order for them to trust you to get the job done. Kobe is the face of the Lakers, and when his all for one routine isn't working, the Lakers don't win, correction won't win. Maybe Mr. Brown can change that... :)

Enough preaching, Go Mavs, Go Heat! I hope to see both in the Finals.

COFFEE!

Coffee is my new arch nemesis! I'm not joking.

So last night, my mother asked me to prep the coffee maker, like normal, except I forgot. Then right before I went to bed I remembered and did it. I washed the coffee pot out, rinsed out the filter, and added more water to the maker. Then I set it to come on at five this morning so my dad could have coffee.

I had already made him a sandwich and put a nice little note on the bag for him, so I thought he would really appreciate that I made him coffee as well. WRONG!

Can you guess what I forgot to do? I've prepared the coffee maker so many times, I"m really saddened that I forgot this...

Yeah that's right. I forgot the coffee grounds. So my dad woke up too a nice, hot, steamy, pot of water! Really opens up your pores!

Apparently my parents had a good laugh about that this morning. My mom remarked, "I told your dad you had made him a sandwich, and he went to check and make sure it had meat on it!" Hahaha. Super funny.

So from here on out, I will ALWAYS put the coffee grounds in the coffee maker.

And in case you were wondering, the sandwich I made did have meat on it... :)

I've been out one week!

When you carry the Bible, the devil gets a headache. When you open it, he collapses. When he sees you reading it , he faints. When he sees you living it, he flees. And just when you're about to re-post this, he will try and discourage you. I just defeated him. Copy and re-post this if you're in Gods army....♥

Darby is right. Pray for the people that were struck by tornadoes yesterday, and in the coming days. Amen.

Yep, that's right I've been out of school for one whole week! Today was the first day that actually felt like summer, because we got in the pool today, and I'm going back out this afternoon! :) We went to the beach last Friday, and I got badly sunburned :( but now I'm better, and can get in the pool!

My aunt and grandparents came last night for my mom's birthday dinner, although her birthday was on Monday. HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY MOMMA! I LOVE YOU :)

I've gotten lots of views, and one comment, plus five or six people have voted on my poll. You all know how to spell that word? I find that hard to believe... since all of you got it right! :) That's OK, I had to look up how to spell it, for the right answer anyway. I am not a speller.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I love all of you!

Sample

I know you've all been dying to see a sample of the novel I've been working on. Not really, since I haven't told any of you I was writing one... I can hear the crickets. Here goes nothing:

"Kaleen had rolled a log to the edge of the clearing where they could sit under the trees and not be seen, but have a perfect view of what was happening to the burnings. The two shared Marsha’s dinner in silence and when done they looked at the burnings for a while. One looking upon his wife no one knew why he loved her, he knew. Eddie didn’t understand, and probably never would. The other gazed upon the first creature resembling a human being that she had slain. The feeling wasn’t great, but not dissatisfying either. She knew she had done the right thing, after all he was a cold-blooded killer, but somehow the humanoid features made it harder to think she had been right in killing him."

Let me know what y'all think!

I've got some Diem to Carpe!

In case you are wondering, which you are, Carpe Diem is Latin for 'seize the moment.' The phrase was first introduced to me about a year or so ago, in my seventh grade language arts class. Mr. Gasper, our teacher, had received permission to show us "The Dead Poet's Society" in class. The movie was great, and it's taking all the willpower I have not to shout out the ending, because it's so good! But that is besides the fact, that I, like the makers of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, think this is a phrase worth living by.
A funny story about this little phrase is that my long time friend and basketball team mate, Beeca, bit me and claimed that she was 'seizing the moment!' Ha! Did I mention she BIT ME!?!?!? No, you probably didn't catch that part did you?
Any who, this summer is my last before high school, I know it, I've grown up so fast! I want to make this summer as enjoyable as possible, because come August reality will wake me every morning with a cold hard slap, that and coffee.... This being the case, I'm resting up for a year of utter happiness, laced with immaturities and some hard times ahead, as I will be part of the first freshman class my school has ever had! Exciting, scary, and down right additive at the same time, kind of like coffee...
My summer will be the best yet, and I plan to keep you filled in as much as possible. I may even keep posting well into the school year if I feel like it.
Enjoy the rest of my posts!
