PHEW...

Finally! Thanksgiving break is HERE! Well, not offically, I have to go half day tomorrow for Grandparents day.

I haven't posted in a while, so this is going to be pretty long.

Last weekend I went to the GSUSA 52nd national convention, which was also celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts! I was choosen to go from GSSJC, which is my Girl Scout Council. I had to skip two days of school, but it was well worth it, as we stayed in the Hilton and got Starbucks everyday! Whoohoo! :)

We took sessions ranging from personalities, to robotics, to leadership, to college application, and the like. Everything was very enjoyable and I learned alot. But best of all was the exhibit hall, where all the vendors would set up the stations and tell you about whatever it is that they do.

I met so many interesting people, including one group of Girl Scouts from New York. We were sitting at the same table during lunch, and happened to start talking. They said I had a southern accent and asked where I was from. I told them I was from Texas, and they gasped.

One of them giggled and asked me to do 'the cowboy call.' At first I was very confused. What is a 'cowboy call?' Then it hit me.

So, ratherly loudly I said, 'YEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAWWWWW! HOWDY Y'ALL,' and they cracked up laughing! In my opinion, I DO NOT have a southern accent.

The convention was great! I met tons of new people, heard some AMAZING speeches, and took some pics with some really cool people! Some of the keynote speakers were Robin Roberts, Vernice 'Flygirl' Armour, Katie Couric, and Mo ( Can't spell her real name so I put her nickname) Coleman, from high school muiscal.

This past weekend my bro had a basketball tournment, and I had the Mariner Boat Parade work weekend. Both the girls and the boys teams won all of their games on Thursday, but lost both on Saturday :(

My Mariner friends and I glued lights, and cut paper and chicken wire, and duct taped ourselves to heck this entire weekend. But the boat decorations look really good!

All in all I've had a busy few weeks, tomorrow is G-parents day so we won't be doing much in school. Afterwards were going to have lunch and see Tower Heist. Just looked up the trailer a minute ago, it looks HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNDEAFTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEP THAT'S RIGHT, OUR FOOTBALL TEAM WENT UNDEFEATED! :)

Thanks to all of the AWESOME people who made this years team happen! I love you guys.

I told myself before the game that I wouldn't cry, but I broken down and wept anyways. That's why I'm not posting pictures, because I have makeup and such running down my face...

After the game we went to Fuddruckers and had a great time laughing and recalling all of our favorite moments through the year.

At halftime, our head administrator called out all of the high schoolers and said a few special things about each of us. We got flowers and rounds of applause... Can't wait until homeocming next year! I couldn't wear my Mum during the game because I was running around being crazy busy, but I hung it on the fence next to a sign with my bro's name in it.

Saturday night the 9th and 10th graders all went out to a super nice restuaraunt and had dinner. Later we walked over to starbucks and had coffee and hot chocolate. It was super fun, hopefully next year we can do something just as nice! :)

Football, football, football, and more...

Ok, so last week our boys beat Tomball Christian AGAIN! 76-41, that's the highest score we've ever had! :) And this week our boy trucked it out to Chester, TX (check where it is on google) to play the Yellow Jackets.

My bro got to start as center, because his quarterback is back (he's been out most of the season with a foot injury) and the starting center was sick most of the week. Plus the coaches thought it would be good to play second team, to see who can do what for next year's team.

It was a long and rainy drive, but we made it there and back, after receiving no bacon on my BACON BURGER! Whatever. I still had homework to do when we got home, and I was already in a bad mood from standing in the rain for about 2 to 3 hours.

So I came in Friday morning and poured out my sob story to my Biology teacher, and turns out I wasn't the only one! We got Admin involved so hopefully nothing like this will happen again! :)

In the meantime I've been bust making crafts and such for te finally pep rally on Wednesday and our final game on Friday. (Lord I'm praying for continued sanity now...). My sister is already driving me crazy with all of the cheers and chants the little cheerleaders get to do with the big ones! Ugh, but thanks Mrs. Hulbert for the bow, it's super cute!

Basketball practice has started, and I'm still out of shape but not like last year!

Went to my friend's Halloween party last night. She made me watch Scream 4, it scared to crap out of me! Never again am I watching horror movies, sorry, but they are NOT for me.

Football

YAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOHOO! :)

OK, so we're now 4-0! Whoohoo. My bro got three stickers from the game, but coaches haven't gone through the film so he might get a few more for a tackle or two. He had an amazing game and our grandparents came! :)

My book should be here sometime. Wednesday is Yearbook picture retakes so I think 'm getting my hair cut tomorrow.

My friend had to put her cat down today :( Please pray for her family and especially her younger sisters who are having a hard time dealing with this.

I have offically lost one game on words with friends, and I'm about to lose two more! Shoot, this is not going good. Half the boys on the football team can and are kicking my Butt! That is sad....

Alex is HILARIOUS :)

My friend, Alex, just texted me this Geometry Proof. It's pretty ingenious as he made it up himself.

Alex Wilson Proof:
Given: Alex Wilson will never have Sarah Cruthirds’ awesome math skills
Proof: add up Sarah’s math grades and add up Alex’s math grades.
Compare them (Law of Sarah’s awesomeness)
Conclusion: SMG is greater than AMG (Law of Sarah Is greater)
That is all I will say about that (Law of Sarah is Dramatic).

I'm Back, alive and NOT Sunburned

Made it back from Sailing camp today! Whoo hoo. We went out on the water saturday morning and saturday afternoon, and this morning for a few hours. The winds were fairly high this weekend, particularly this morning (it was gusting at like 22 knots or so).

One boat turtled, but it wasn't me! Because I do NOT capsize, much less turtle my boat.

Today was my friend Virginia's birthday! She's offically a teenager now. Her family went to a place called Happy Fats for dinner last night, and apparently this place has a dancing hotdog as a mascot.... interesting.

Anyways my Padre passed the motor boat class so he's now a motor boat driver, just gots get my Mom to pass. We have another football game sometime this week, but I'm not sure when.

That's about it.

New Look...

I'm pretty proud of my blog's new look. The flower wasn't cutting it, so I decided to personalize. That and get rid of that ugly blue! I am never trusting blogger's color suggestions, again.

But that is besides the point. This weekend was great, it was cool, rained a little bit, and I got to sleep! Halla to the Yulla. Not to mention my bro told me he thinks I made a 97 or so in my Biology tests today. :) He has a study hall with my teacher, and I guess she had them on her desk....

Homework is getting better, as you can see I can post freely again, and not in the middle of the night or some other obscure time. :)

We have a football game this week. It's an away game, so that means less stuff, but more driving, which is better?  I do not know....

Anyway back to the new look. The background pic is one that I took in Savannah, it says, "Jesus wants Yo to recycle." I am probably the only person alive who has this picture, as I drove by there the next day and someone had covered it with paint :( Sad.

You can't see it in the pic, but this sign is surrounded by gabage, that's the stupid part!

I like the fonts too. The one used for my heading is called, "Covered by your Grace." And I think it sounds like a very promising Christian song! But I can't write music, anyone else wanna try?

Meetings, Meetings, Meetings

The title is kind of misleading, but whatever. I actually only have one meeting tomorrow.

Our first 2011-2012 student Ambassador meeting is tomorrow. Another girl and I have been working on pitching an idea for starting a book club to our Dean of student life, and I'm super excited to tell everyone all about it! Whoo hoo.

Also my other friend is trying to get us a fall dance and eventually a home coming! Halla to the Yulla!

Today was also 88 cent winnie day at James Coney Island! :)

Update

So, I haven't been on in a while. OUR GUYS WON THEIR FIRST FOOTBALL GAME ON THRUSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOHOO.

And a friend from last year came ot see the game, so that was super fun to see him. He got braces just like me.

We won 60-25, one more touch down and we would have had the 40 point mercy rule. Oh well, it was a really exciting game! I told the boys at practice on Monday that if they won, they could dump one of the water coolers on me, and well, they won.

So, I got soaked. In ice cold water. I am not doing that again.

And being the prepared girl scout that I am, I forgot clean clothes :( I went to skeeter's wearing my brother's shirt (which is a XXL, that's why he plays starting D!), wet shorts, and squishy socks.

And of course the morning after the big win I'm sick. I had a serious sinus headache from all the smoke in the air due to fires, and the chili cheese burger I'd had wasn't playing nice with my stomach.

I slept until like eleven on friday, skipped school, but felt better by two so I made myself run a little bit.

I watched some TV, which I never get to do, cleaned up some, and got the rest of my unfinshed homework done. :)

I fell alot better today, but I still have bunches of homework for this weekend, and then there's Monday-school again.

Nothing much else, other than praying for my continued sanity....

Labor day weekend And HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMMY!

So this Labor weekend I went to my friend's house, and did homework.... The friend's house was fun. Homework not so much. I think my school is having a pep rally on Wednesday.....

Time to break out the green hair spray. I went a little crazy with it last year, but my Mom let me spray her! :)

Also today was my Grammy's B-day! I'm not gonna tell you how old she is, because she would definity not want that on the internet. We gave her a special dinner of Spaghetti with meat sauce, and bluebell ice cream with Hot Fudge.

I talked to her briefly about my ambition to attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis. And I now have the approval of all three sets of grandparents and one set of parents! Whoohoo. :)

I turn my first English paper in on Wednesday. I'm kind of nervous.... I made really good grades last year, but we have to put out rwriting in a completely different format. Plus this is a personal narrative, where the word "I" is NOT allowed. Yeah, I've been doing ALOT of editing.

But it's all worth it!

I'll post the final copy after my teacher grades it. Also we were writing poems in class. I read my first draft a loud to the class and afterwards  no one wanted to share theres. One student said, "mine would look like a fail next to hers."

No, that is not true. I have horrid grammar and spelling. Apparently my English teacher told my mother I was lacking in grammar and my mother responded, "Yeah sarah's writing is plenty creative, but her grammar sucks." Thanks Mom.

Pictures.

So these are some pictures of things that I've been doing, thinking, or looking at this week.

This my pet rock, Pudge. He's named after the former catcher (he only played six months) for the Houstan Astros. I loved that guy, he was such a great catcher and he had a cool name: Pudge Rodriguez!

This is a book I have been reading, and had to wait on the longest waiting list ever at the library for, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, written by Rebecca Skloot. I really enjoyed this book, because I am into science and I had no idea that the main reason we have modern medicene is because of a poor African American woman's maligant cancer cells! This is a wonderfully told true story, and I think Mrs. Skloot does a fanstastic job of just giving you the facts of what happened, while at the same time giving you everyone else's opinion of the matter at hand.

I would recomend this book to anyone who loves science, likes interesting but sad true stories, and who has questions about how poorly people, particulary blacks were treated in the 1950's.

Read this book, LOVE it, and tell other people about it. It is a must summer for read for anyone going into 9th grade biology! :)

Update

Ok, I decided to "update" my Blogger dashboard and make it modern and cool. Well this resulted in me not being able to make new posts, so I've spent the past few days being ticked with my computer, until tonight. I found the "switch back to old dashboard" button and clicked it! I am back.

Anyways, the boys lost their scrimmage, but it doesn't really count because it wasn't an actual game. I hope we don't play the team we played in the regular season. Their players were cussing, and the coaches were mouthy to the refs. Plus, the refs were totally partail to the other team and stripped three of our touch downs (we would have won, had this not happened Grrrrrrr) for "illegal blocking in the back." the first one, ok, but two times after that?!?!?!

That's crap....

Anyways, I was ticked to say the least, but I don't think we play them during the regular season. If we do, well, we better have a jersey and pads that fit me. Grrrrr Grrrrrr Grrrrrr!

Also something else to note, one of our players broke his arm during the game. It was an accident on the other boy's part, but it still makes me mad, because our boy was and eighth grader. He deserves to play. Please pray for him, as he will be out the rest of the season.

Homework is getting a little bit better. I'm only up until midnight instead of one. Does it really make a difference? No, not really, I just like to tell myself that it does.... :)

We get a four day weekend! Whoohoo! I also went and bought myself a waving iron. I like it alot, other than my Chi, this is my favorite hair tool.

Other than that not much else. I might go spend the night at my friend's tomorrow. Yippee, I don't get to see her alot because she lives about forty-five minutes from my house, so we usually stay up till about four in the morning talking and giggling.

Lessons learned this week: Do NOT click buttons that promise modernization or upgrades.
I do not like the school we scrimmaged
And my hair looks pretty good wavy.

Weekend

So yesterday we didn't go look at Sunfish for two reasons. One there is really no place within fifty miles of my house that sells them. Two The cheapest we fouud was 5K, without the trailer and the place was in Minnesota. It's like another 2K to have the thingy shipped to Texas.... :(

But we are going to Crackerbarrel today! So yeah, yesterday I sat in a Doctors office for two hours while he dug around in my ingrown toenail. Ouch! And I'm still on Antibiotics and I have to go back next Saturday....

This week is the last scrimmage for our boys, then we play the only team we beat last year! Whoohoo! And this year we have our best player back, who was injuried last year. :) I'm pretty sure that we're gonna win, but that's why the play the game so I'm not placing my money just yet!

Still wish I could take Publications (journalism)! My bro is getting assignments and I am sooooooooo Jealous. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyways I start my second week of high school tomorrow, hopefully it will be as great if not better then the first! :)

TGIF!

Never has this pharse meant sooooooooooooooooo much to me! First week of High school, check :)

The Football scrimmage went great, as far as touchdowns go, we only ost by one, but we gained alot of knowledge about this team that we didn't have before. All the coaches agree, that this year is going to be different, people will remember our name and not because they whiped the floor with us!

I had to stay after school today to work on Spanish :/ I'm taking an online course, and I wasn't told that I had to set up everything and take an orientation, so I was behind. I seriously thought I was the Webster definietion of an over-acheiver, now my thoughts are shattered..... oh well, I'll live.

Tomorrow my padre and I are going to look at Sunfush! Whoohoo! :) And he said we could go to Cracker barrel too! Momma's pancake breakfast here I come!

Other than that, I wish I could take Journalism!!!!!!

Second day of school :)

So far, this year, I'm doing pretty good! I like all of my teachers, I LOVE all of my friends, and football is keeping me busy. What else am supposed to do with my life? Study? Yeah right. LOL joking, but I still love all of the football boys.

Today was great, we got alot done in class and got alot of homework as well. Challenges are exciting, and this year will be anything but short of challenges. :)

About to sit down and do some homework. Lately I've been having trouble going to bed, I'm running off of three or four hours of sleep right now. But I took my vitamins this morning so I should be good. I am ustilizing my time wisely. If I'm gonna be up half the night, with a brain that won't shut off, then I might as well get some homework done and sleep until noon the next day!

My friend from school is sick. She was running fever and its only the second day of school. Theres a suspicious rumor floating around that I'm the one who gave it to her.... I swear I didn't! But that's just wild speculation, I'm not even SICK!

Pray for my friend, that she can return to school and for my Great Aunt Peggy, who has stage four bone cancer from her left skull through her left hip.

Thanks! :)

Tuesday

So today was a pretty superfanstasticmarvelous Tuesday! I got alot of homework done yesterday, so I didn't have much to do today. Football practice was brutally hot and I was constantly going around with water bottles making sure the guys (and coaches) were drinking. :) Like I said before, I LOVE football so all the hardwork is totally worth it.

Tomorrow will be my second day at school, and I'm looking forward to it. I go to the oral surgeon on Thursday to get my tooth and stitches checked out, although I'm pretty sure I'm perfectly fine.

The Boys have a scrimmage on Thursday at a school way far away from where I live.... :/ But the school is looking at purchasing a trailer to pull all their stuff, because it barely fits in my truck! :)

Anyways that's about it, other than I can't my little sister has grown up sooooo fast! *Crying* She started kindergarten yesterday!!!!!!!!!!! Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday I was going into Kindergaten! :) I am getting old....

First day Back!

So today was my first day of High school! Yahhhhhh! I really think this year is going to be great.

In Biology we're going to dissect a grasshopper, crawfish, perch, and a baby pig! I love dissections and can't wait for these to start! Geometry has got me really excited, because Math is my favorite subject! Everyone else think I'm crazy, but I love it sooooo much I do problems in my free time or on long car trips. :) LOL

Anyways, I really am looking forward to this year. No drama, yet. So far so good.

During Football practice today I got alot of homework done, so I'm hoping I can run in the morning before I start my schoolwork. *Finger crossed*

The only thing I am super sad about is that I couldn't take publications this year with my Favorite teacher in the whole wide world, Dr. Jones! His class in when I'm taking Spanish II, blech.... :(

But other than that, I like my teachers, I like my classmates, and I like where this school year is headed.

And that concludes my first day, but we had our first football scrimmage of the season on Saturday!

Whoohoo! Our boys did so great, we don't know who offically won since a score wasn't kept, but I'm pretty sure it was us! Hehe. My brother did such a good job. He's first team Defense starting lineman, and second string offense center. Coach put him as center to see how he would do and the quarterback actually threw the ball to My bro, and he went and almost scored a TD! I've never seen that boy happier in my life. :)

I am the equpiment Manager so I was working, but the boys treat me really well as do the coaches, so everything is worth it.

That's about it.... I guess.

P.S. MY CUSTOMIZED NIKEID BASKETBALL SHOES SHIPPED TODAY. SHOULD HAVE EM WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOHOO.

I am beginning the rest of my Life.... TOMORROW!

It's scary to think that I'm going into high school tomorrow! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! What and adventure I've had in elementary and Middle school. Phew! And I get to have another great adventure, that begins tomorrow.

Yesterday, it seems like, I was a cute little kid with bobbed blode hair sitting in my kindergarten class thinking, wow, I'm in kindergarten. High school is a long way off. Wow boy, was I WRONG about that one.

I've tried to calm myself down this summer, everything is just so exciting I can't seem to sleep at night. I know school work will get harder, I know my teachers will push more, I know that I have to start taking PSAT's and SAT's, I know that life is gonna get crazier than it is already. But I believe fully in Jeremiah 29:11 that God does have a plan for me and he will be by my side until the end.

I realized about two weeks ago that I hadn't actually talked to God in Nearly three months. Yeah I said my prayers at meal time and said what I was thankful for, but I didn't "fill" God in on what I was going through in every day life. I forgot that, yes He already knows whats going on, but He still wants me to talk with him.

So I resolved that day to "talk to God" on a daily basis through out the entire day. So far, so good.

I start high school tomorrw. I am READY! :)

Grammy

Please pray for my Grandmother. She had  her uterus, tubes, and ovaries removed on Thursday because doctors detected a cancerous tumor in her uterus. She was in surgery for five hours, during which time they knicked her small intestine and had to expand the opening in her chest and abdomen to patch it up.

Today she started coughing really bad and had to be put on a morphing drip to ease the pain. I'm hoping to go and see her tomorrow or Sunday, but my Aunt Amber is there with her for company until Sunday or so.

Thanks for the continued prayers and support everyone! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!! :)

My toothy

Ok so today I had my baby canine on my right side pulled... Yipee.

I just got up after taking a nap when I got home, and a blueberry banana smoothie was awaiting me! I finally found a place that does them as good as Thirsty's used to do.

Anyway my appointment was for 12:30, and I was not allowed to eat anything six hours prior to that or drink anything 3 three hours prior. So I got up at 6 to eat half of a muffin then went back to sleep.

My Momma drove me to the office, and we waited in the lobby for a while before being asked to sign some papers, and then finally one of the operators called for me! I was seriously hungry at this point and wanted to eat the oxygen tube that they put in my nose. :)

After that the actual Doctor spent fifteen minutes trying to get my IV started in the crook of my right elbow. This didn't go to well. Three needles and a kind of sore hand later, he remarked, "Girl, you have veins as thick as aluminum tubes!" I asked if that was bad and he replied, "Well, that means you won't be popping nay blood vessels anytime soon, but i can't get you IV started."

I shall take the lesser of two evils thank you very much! :)

After that he got a vein to pop up in my wrist, and it only took one shot. So he hooked me up to the machine and told me the series of shots he would administer to me via my IV. The first would make me relax, the second would make me feel like I was floating and probably made me laugh, but I don't remember. After that he put in the sleeping one and I was out.

The next thing I know I have an entire roll of gauze stuck in my mouth, I can't feel my nose and lips, and the operators face in front of me was kind of twisted. I'll admit I wanted to reach out an squeeze her cheek to see if she was real! LOL.

About five minutes later I was seeing straight and loaded into a wheelchair to be brought to my car.

The ride home was uneventful, but I did get myself a 40 oz. smoothie from Smoothie King! YUM!!!!! Upon arriving home I took a few sips of my smoothie, said hi to my siblings, and collapsed on my Moms bed for three hours.

And now here I am the right side of my lip still numb (whenever i drink water it just slips out this side of my mouth... :/) and my baby canine missing!

All in all I had a pretty good day, and I'm allowed to eat again!!!!! WHOOHOO

THE Update...

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, but I've just been super busy ever since I got back from Savannah! Phew. I made it home on the bus, barely. I will not go into details about the ride home, but it involved a farting girl, Whataburger, tacos, being mad at my mom, having my seat taken, not brushing my teeth, my gummy bears running out, and all in the middle of the freakin night... yeah. I HATE BUSES!!!!!!!!

Anyways I've been ordering school books :P and stuff, and sleeping late, plus I've started to shoot hoops longer, as the season is fast approaching.

SHARK WEEK HAS BEGUN!!!!!!! That's right, shark week started tonight. My favorite. I LOVE shark week. It's the best week of the year, besides my birthday (Which I used to share with Osama Bin Ladin, until recently!)  Other than that haven't been doing much else...

I found this cool quote at the bottom of an email someone sent me:

"There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't and American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but on sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American People."
-Theodore Roosevelt

So yeah that's about it...

Seriously I am NOT joking about the Birthday thing, look it up if you will.... :)

Yesterday was Awesome!!!! We went to Tybee Island, off the coast of Georgia.

In the morning we stopped at Old Fort Jackson, which is strategically placed to where every boat that passes through the river (which I forgot the name of) has to float by Fort Jackson.

The guides were dressed like Confederate Corporals from the Civil War era. They marched us off the bus, and into the fortress, which is almost the exact way it looked during Lincoln's Presidency. We were taught some simple commands, like how to turn left and right, and salute, and speak to your senior officers. Everyone 'passed' and the fun began.

Our guides put us into three groups, my group went to the old barracks to be quizzed by our guide about Girl Scouts and Civil War history.

Then we went to the cannon station! We were taught how to prep and fire a cannon in thirty seconds, and how to yell loudly the correct commands for preparing and firing a cannon.

the last station was signal and communication, where we learned how to make words and letters with flags. Apparently the Confederate military was not well prepared, in the area of communication. According to our guide, there was not one Confederate communications solider who didn't receive training from a Girl Scout in flag signals and Morse code.

Who forgot the mention that in history books?!?! HUH?

Last but not least our guides go together and fired one of the cannons!!! It was really loud, and it smoked a lot, but it was amazing to see. Then we went to the gift shop, blah blah, nothing interesting there.

After lunch we headed out to the Marine Science Center on Tybee island. Our new guide, I forgot her name, took us on a walk along the beach after we had piddled around the gift shop and turtle tanks for a while. Our walk along the beach resulted in seeing two dead cannon ball jelly fish, and two live ones, which we returned to the ocean.

Then we swam in the ocean, and I successfully got sand every where, including my basketball camp shirt. It still has sand in it, and I washed it for heaven's sake! Also I didn't get sunburned!!!! Haha I finally trumped the sun and didn't get burned. Yah!

That night we went to the pirate's house. It's a supposedly haunted restaurant, but I saw no ghosts. I even said "I don't believe in Ghosts" and of course nothing happened. You apparently not supposed to tell the spirits that you don't believe in them, because they get mad and do something. The place mat said that they drop picture frames, steal food, and appear where you least expect them. Whatever.

They gave us punch out dress up stuff. How could I resist? I've always wanted to be a pirate. :)

Our day was really fun, and We had even more fun today! I'll tell y'all about it later :)

Savannah DAY 2

Sorry! I didn't post how yesterday went, so here it goes.

We went to the birthplace of Girl Scouts, dressed in our spiffy Girl Scout uniforms (White polos, khaki pants, and our sash or vest), which is the house Juliette Gordon Low created the Girl Scouts in.

Our morning session was craft time. I expected this to be all little girl stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised that all of the four that we made were something I wanted to keep and were challenging enough to keep me busy! Yah! :)

Then we ate lunch, courtesy  of the Soda Pop Shoppe, in one of Savannah's many squares. After our sandwiches we hiked back to the birthplace for and orientation of Juliette's life and how she grew up. I found it very insightful, as I learned multiple new facts about our founder. Did you know that before a boy was potty trained he could not get his first hair cut, and he had to wear a dress????? True story.

Moving on.

Then we toured the house. While Juliette did create Girl Scouts in the Birthplace house, she did not live there but for six months with her new husband, William Low. The house is beautiful. It's almost completely restored, wonderfully decorated, and our tour guide literally new what brand of paint was used to paint every room! She was a Girl Scout herself, and works for the Birthplace doing tours and whatnot.

Unfortunately, I forgot to put my SD card back into my camera, so I couldn't take any pictures. Also pictures aren't allowed inside the birthplace, so I wouldn't have been able to take them anyway.

When we were done at the Birthplace we followed Ms. Dawn (Our fearless leader, who walks faster than a Freakin NASCAR driver) to the Andrew Low house. Andrew Low was the father of Juliette's husband, and she lived in his house most of her life. The carriage house behind the Original is where the Girl Scouts held their first meeting, and also First Headquarters.

The Andrew Low house was even prettier and more lavishly decorated than any house I have ever seen! It was sooooooo BEAUTIFUL! Crystal chandlers, priceless silver ware, ancient antiques, and lavish decorations.

Needless to say it was Beautiful. That night we went on the Gospel Choir Dinner Tour, which we awesome, except that the air-conditioner was definitely NOT working and it was hotter than Hades. Everything else was great, including the DJ up stairs which explains the picture below...

I walked out onto the floor just as the conga line started, so someone threw a sombrero on my head. I told my mom no pictures, but she did anyway, and I think I need to learn to laugh at myself. So go ahead. Laugh away... Ok you can stop now :P

That was it. We stopped at a Candy store on the way home, where I got fudge and dark chocolate bark. I ate all the fudge and am eating the bark while typing this.

I'll post stuff about today tomorrow night hopefully! We're going on a Ghost Tour tonight!

Savannah DAY 1

I have officially made it to Savannah Georgia... ALIVE and in one piece. Yah! :)

Last night (actually this morning :/ ) at about 2am we got to our hotel, and I was asleep fifteen minutes later. My mother and I were supposed to attend church today where Juliette Gordon Low (founder of Girl Scouts) went to and was married in. But we slept until ten instead. I'm such a bad christian! Haha.

Then we went to Paula Dean's place. We piddled around the gift shop for a while, and I called my Padre to wish him a happy Father's day. Our lunch consisted of fried chicken, that I can get at KFC, cold crunchy mac and cheese, like the nasty stuff Kraft makes, and way too salty potatoes! Yuck. I was NOT impressed with Paula Dean's restaurant, maybe it was just because today was a buffet, but I won't be going back.

After lunch we boarded a Trolley for a four hour tour of Historic Savannah, or what the locals call "downtown." Our first stop was at the Laurel Grove Cemetery, which was originally owned by a wealthy plantation owner, who decided to sell plots for people to bury their dead in. When no one would buy his plots, because their previously deceased loved ones were in another cemetery, he said that if they bought his plots he would move their loved ones to his site. The funny part is that he didn't actually move the bodies, just the tomb stones to Laurel Grove. So there are a lot of unmarked graves in the other cemetery, and a lot of unused tomb stones at Laurel Grove.

This is also where Juliette was placed to rest.

At we grave we took pics, and hosted a small ceremony for the girls who received their bronze/silver awards this year. We traded a few SWAPS (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Placed Somewhere).

The rest of the tour was extremely insightful. We looked at old churches, the squares (small parks in the city), old houses, cemetery's, and places of historical interest. After stopped by a rather large and super modern cafe for ice cream, which was really good.

Below are some pics I took while we were out. Some of them aren't very good as I have a small digital camera, and I am not a skilled photo taker.

This is Juliette Gordon Low's Head stone. She designed it herself, but actually it wasn't put up until ten years after she died, because it was very expensive and she left all her money to the Girl Scouts.
Her picture doesn't do her justice. She was very very beautiful in real life, but this pic makes her look like the wicked witch of the west or something.
The moss growing on these trees is on every tree within miles of Savannah. It's not parasitic, it just hangs on the trres and occasionally falls into the streets. At night this stuff can be pretty creep! Booh! :)
Me and My Momma at Juliette's headstone. We were very excited to see the grave of the founder of Girl Scouts. Back in the day they were called Girl Guides... interesting tidbit.
It's Paula Dean! Nope, just a cut out. I didn't realize she was so short. I'm only like five five, so she can't be much taller than five even, if this is realistically sized that is.
Me in between the graves of Ellie and Franklin Low, who died at the age one. They were Juliette's niece and nephew from her brother and his wife.

During the trolley tour we passed an old beat up building that had this interesting message written on it. When we got off to take pictures at some old building I snapped one of this. It's not only biased and funny, as it was surrounded by trash (you can't see it in the photo), but also whoever wrote it for the 'u' on the end of you! Jesus wants YO to recycle dog!

I'll have more to post tomorrow, as we are going to the Birthplace of Girl Scouts.

P.S. My last day of basketball camp was AWESOME, although I lost at the Knock-out championship :( oh well I'm training for next year. But I did make sixty-five of about eighty or ninety! That's a pretty good percentage, at least it's better than Shaq!

This is Coach Ford with a Chocolate Mustache! Becca made it for her on the last day of camp. I've been so busy I forgot to post this.

Basketball $hoe$

There is a reason for replacing the 's' with dollar signs. Basketball shoes are expensive, because I'm picky. I hate those 'lightweight' shoes, because the designers take out important (at least to me) support in the heel and sometimes the toe cap.

I had an infected ingrown toenail for the entire basketball season last year, I didn't tell anyone as I was embarrassed since it was gross. My poor toe got stepped on sooooo much I seriously thought I might have to have surgery to get the flaming nail out of my toe. I didn't need surgery, but I did have to have the nail removed. Our last basketball game was a Tuesday in Feb. and I went and had the nail pulled that Thursday. It's just now almost done growing back. Probably won't be all the way done until school starts.

I've also landed on my ankle very hard a few times, and I'm surprised I haven't broken it... yet. I'm a post player,  and rebounding, twisting, and flopping (faking a foul to get to the free throw line) requires a lot of support for your upper ankles.

So, I don't but just any basketball shoe, I research, read reviews, look at multiple sites, check ebay, compare prices, sizes, durability, support, materials, blah blah blah... I take pride in my shoes, and I only want the best.

Another thing is that I really don't like my parents to but my shoes. Buying them myself makes me responsible for them. I wash my shoes, polish off the scuffs, bleach (or wash) the lases, and I pick dirt out of the bottom of them. I know I'm weird. But they're mine, because I bought them, and I'm gonna take care of them. Plus if I buy them, I own them.

Heck I don't even put my shoes in the closet, I have a special spot for them on my book shelf, yeah you could say I show them off. But they're mine and I'm proud of them.

The shoes I want to get, well actually I have a toss up between two completely different pairs. Both are Nike's but that's about all they have in common. I'll post pictures at the bottom. I'm leaning towards the most expensive ones (Duh!) but only because I can customize them (Like get my number on them) and I can get them in my school colors! Yah! :)

They cost 145 moolas. Yeah I know more than twice the cost of the ones I'm wearing now, which I had from seventh grade. I'm going into high school, shouldn't I be allowed to BUY my OWN pair of basketball shoes. I'll work and I'll scrap and I'll save my money, and I'll get my super cool Basketball shoes.

Enough ranting. Now you can look at the pics.

First is the red pair. They're made for post players, and short sudden bursts of speed, which is what I need. However they have a little bit cut out from the back where my ankle would be. It's not that much, but It still bothers me. Just to save a few extra ounces, I don't think I'd risk breaking my ankle.

Also I asked Coach May about these and she asked, "You're gonna get them in green right?" Apparently she doesn't like the red. And everyone else thinks I"ll look like a Christmas tree with our green uniforms. Whatever.
Next is the Customizable ones. As you can see they're already customized, with my signature (SC#20) and everything. Plus they're my school colors, I think Coach would like them. And I wouldn't look like a Christmas tree...

I can even have my number stitched into the side of these. Talk about personalization! Plus the green laces are cool.

Comment and tell me which ones you like better! :)

Third Day of Basketball Camp.

Plyometrics are my new arch nemesis!!!!

Coach Ford has us doing all kinds of weird things today, and boy do I hurt! The coolest one was called the air born Heisman. First you take two steps really fast and tap your heels together while your doing it. Then after the last step you jump onto one leg with the other bent and in the air. Your supposed to touch your hand to your foot, but after about the first time I quit doing it.

I didn't get chick-fil-a, but I did get sonic.

That's about it. Tomorrow is the last day of Basketball camp. I will win at knock-out! Then I have to start packing for my trip to Savannah... fun :/

P.S. I am now officially VP, and since LeBron James didn't win in the Finals I'm sure everyone would like to vote him out of office, so I am now President! Yah!

Second day of Basketball Camp

Well, I'm still alive!!!! That's a good thing. I was really sore this morning, and almost had to have my mother tie my shoes on, but I did it! Tomorrow, she will definitely have to help me with them... :( I'm sore now, imagine what I'll like in the morning!

But I did get my chick-fil-a for lunch today!!!! :) I just kept telling myself when we were running nonstop, 'you're getting chick-fil-a after this, keep going, you're getting chick-fil-a' And I did it. Plus I got a chocolate milkshake. YUM.

Tomorrow will probably be bad as well. We start off with Legacy Links, which is where we run around the court and when coach blows the whistle, the last person in line sprints to the front. The more girls, the more you run. During the season we ran one lap to get started, then one lap for every person after that, and another lap for good measure. In total we ran something like eleven laps nonstop, and one of them you had to sprint! Thankfully we did half laps, so only about six or seven times around.

Then we shoot free throws, and not to toot my own horn, but I've been practicing those a lot, like for an hour a day, and I think I'm pretty good at them. We'll see what I can do in a pressured situation...

After that we usually work a little bit on whatever concepts we're learning that day. For example yesterday was shooting technique, and today was ball handling and passing. Then comes the hard part, conditioning with Coach Ford. Keep in mind Coach Ford trained for like 26 weeks with a group of elite trainers to run the the freaking Houston Marathon!!!!! She had us doing all kinds of lunges, squats, stop and start running, and worst of all wall sits! I HATE those things. Plus we lost at a shooting game, we had to make 50% of our shots, and we made like 40% so we had to run two suicides. (figure out the meaning, the name gives it away.)

Then we go and work on different mini concepts that help with whatever we're suppose to be learning that day.

TODAY I WON AT KNOCK OUT!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Like I said I never lose, and I didn't today. Yipee. Coach May said at the end of the week were going make all the winners play each other, I better start practicing.

All in all today was really fun, nobody puked, and I got Chick-fil-a. :)

First day of Basketball Camp...

Yeah today was the first day of basketball camp. We had a lot of fun, as the conditioning part was only about thirty minutes, but tomorrow Coach said we have to run suicides. I lost at Knock-out, which I never lose at... there is a first time for everything, but I will prevail!!!!!

Other than that not much else to say. Hopefully I don't die tomorrow, I'll let you know if I do.

Family Camp-out

This weekend my family and I, plus a few others, braved the heat (and the incredibly long car drive) to haul our butts down to the Frio River in Garner State park. My dad pulled the trail with all the gear, so it took us five hours instead of four to get there. I know, only five hours right? Haha, WRONG!!!!! It's only five hours on endless highways, with your bossy five year old sister, your farting brother, too much crap in the car, nothing to listen to on your ipod, and I'm really really bad at Angry Birds, car trip! :/ NOT FUN.

But the actual camping was ok.

Here's a brief synopsis: (synopsis, good word, what does it mean? Comment and tell me!)

We arrived friday night, set up camp and cooked dinner. My mom made little mini burgers, and some of the younger kids had hotdogs. Nothing interesting.

The next morning, I get up had a few cups of coffee, eat breakfast, and put on sunscreen and my bathing suit. Then we left for the water. The Frio is down about three feet, and had no current so we couldn't tube like we had hoped, but we did get to splash around the entire day. I was smart enough to wear my sunglasses, thinking that I could protect my eyeballs from the sun. I protected my eyes alright, but now my forehead and tip of my nose are sunbruned, and nothing else.

My poor face looks like an over ripe irratated tomato! Oh well, it'll be gone in a few weeks. Hopefully.

My Aunt Trina and her friend, that we call Aunt April, came at about one or two that afternoon, and spent the rest of the day flouncing around in the water with us. Did I mention it was VERY VERY cold water. Hence the name Frio River...

Our lunch was sandwiches and leftover sliders and hotdogs. I had my fill and went back in the water.

When we got back to camp, we were informed that it was Mexcian night, and we were all eating tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas! YUM! Except that the patrol making the tacos ate them, before they brought them over to the adult area. So no tacos, but with knowing some of the boys in that Patrol I am kind of glad I didn't get one of their Tacos...

My brother made the enchiladas, just about all by himself, and they were DELICIOUS! But the other guy who helped him put way too much Tony's spice in them, and I nearly had a coughing fit after the first bite. I told My brother to make them again, and hide the Tony's from Matt. :)

While we were serving the food, my sister had this bright idea to go and take a walk around the campsite. I'm just saying one word, STUPID. She stepped on some stick that had like four inch thorns over by some tree on the other side of the campsite. It went right through her cutesy pink croc, which still bears the mark, and into her little foot.

She comes back over to the campsite screaming and hobbling on one leg, and nearly gives my mom a heart attack, becasue by the time her shoe was off blood was all over her shoe and the bottom of her foot! So my dad plopped her on a cooler, cleaned her foot, pulled the thorn out, disinfected it (by now it had stopped bleeding), put a very big bandaid on it, then cuddled her until she stopped crying. After the fact she got a very stern talk about not wandering off, and watching where you step.

Everyone kept their shoes on after that...

This morning we ate breakfast, packed up, sang a few church hyms, let my brother shower, and then we were off.

My dad's car hit 100,000 miles today on the beltway coming home. Yah, I guess. I'm not sure what it means, but it was cool to just watch the numbers change. I watched it for like an hour, because my sis didn't let me watch her movie, my ipod has nothing of value, and my mom was sleeping.

Oh, I forgot. My super smart, always packed, and prepared Boy Scout of a brother forgot his compression mat, which is what he sleeps on. The first night he slept on rocks, and was grumpy the next morning. So last night I let me use my cot. I know I'm such a humanitarian, but where am I gonna sleep?

I slept in the truck if you were wondering. Not comfy. My side kept falling asleep before I did, and the back of my legs kept sticking to the leather of my dad's seats. I seriously think no hair will be on the back of my legs for a while, becasue of the ripping sound I heard, and the pain I was feeling. Plus my dad woke me up at like four in the morning, and asked me if I wanted to sleep on his air mattress for a few hours. I said yes and opened the car door. The night before he had told me that he disabled the alarm, either he didn't or that truck doesn't like me, becasue it went off. At four in the freakin morning. Oh yeah, all the other campers really liked me after that :(.

My dad fumbled with his keys, and finally got the stupid thing to go off. Then I went and laid in his tent becasue I couldn't go back to sleep. Fun Fun. I'm kinda grumpy now after loading and unloading the trailer in the heat, and working with about oh maybe four, five hours of sleep. Did I mention I have basketball camp tomorrow????????

Yeah that's about it. We got t-shirts today, and water, and sweat tea, and we ate at Dairy Queen for lunch. Super fun. Super tiring. Super not ready for basketball camp.

Wish me luck, hope I don't die.

The Weekend, Dun Dun Da....

Today I babysat my sister, her friend, and her friend's older brother. They are great kids, except Grace, who had potty mouth and refused to listen to me. I wish she were an infant again. She didn't walk or talk or sass me back when I told her something. Sigh. The good old days.

Moving on.

This weekend is going to be fun, we're going on the family camp out, with my brother's boy scout troop. Hopefully if the river isn't dried up, we'll get to tube down the river a few miles. Hopefully.

Other than that, not much else to say. I'll post pictures from this weekends adventures after we get back.

Oh! My aunt and her friend are coming to the camp out!!!!! I love my aunt Trina, and her friend is like an aunt to me, even though I haven't seen her in a few years... whatever, I like her.

So yeah. That's about it.

Prayer Request

Today Caroline Shook (it'sawriter'sthing.blogspot.com) posted the prayer request below...

Please pray for my aunt Susan. She is at the hospital about to have her first baby, Sophia, but things don't look good. She has what the doctor calls Helpp Syndrome. It makes the platelets in her blood practically fall apart. If shy has a C-section, she could bleed to death, but she's been in labor for twenty four hours now and the baby won't come. Their afraid that the umbilical cord is around her neck. The doctor ordered blood for a blood transfusion for Susan but it has to come all the way from down town. The baby's condition is still getting worse. The doctors have decided to do a C-section. Susan and Sophi could die. Please, please pray for them.

Please Please pray for them, and be sure to comment and tell Caroline that you are praying.

"Dear God,

I pray that Sophia and Susan can go home safely, and that we can welcome a healthy new child into this world you have given us. Give Caroline and her family strength and hope, for YOU are GOD almighty, and YOU have the power to save this baby and her mother.

Help the doctors to know what the right thing to do is. I pray for guidance and wisdom, plus peace on their hearts during the difficult hours ahead.

And thank you LORD for everything that you have blessed us with, and I pray that we can have two more things to be thankful for at the end of this day. A mother and healthy new baby!"

Have YOU ever been this Tired????

I received and email from my little brother today that had some pretty funny pics on it. Usually he send me pretty funny stuff, but I decided to post this, because it does have a relevant message. To me any way.

Enjoy...

And the best for last... Before I show you, it's story time.

Being the cute adorable child that I was, I also had some seriously blonde moments. One of the them in particular was very blonde, and very much on the topic of being very tired.

Let me explain. I was eating a bowl of spaghetti when I was around 12 to 18 months old. Apparently it was late at night and my mother turned around to do something, when she looked back. Guess what?

I had fallen asleep in my spaghetti, face down and was snoring to high heavens! And I still had the fork in my hand.

True story. On to the picture:

It seemed like during the school year, that I never could get enough sleep. I even stayed home a couple of days for lack of sleep, not because I was sick. Not that I wanted perfect attendance anyways.... That's why I'm so glad summer is finally here. I get to do nothing, and sleep all I want. Boring is the new Interesting!

Hope you guys found this interesting, I mean Boring!
